I worked as a research assistant of Prof. Deterding in the department of Design Engineering. The primary focus of my research was in the field of computer science, specifically in Artificial Intelligence with particular emphasis on Human-AI interactions. While the initial phase of my work targeted game development and its associated configurations, it subsequently shifted towards the development of a software for the analysis of human-AI collaboration within creative system frameworks.

Role and Contributions

My responsibility spanned across two projects:

- I had to design and implement the configuration between a web server environment and a database, to support an existing web app research platform. The web app used Monte Carlo tree search algorithm variances to investigate the relationship between difficulty and skill and its impact on user engagement and enjoyment.

- I had to write a software to perform dynamic database analysis and data visualization on an existing database of mixed-initiative creative interfaces (MICI). These systems aim for an output in a creative domain, using the collaboration between Humans and AI in the creative process. Afterwards, I was assigned with the update of the existing database of systems (it included only those before 2017): this involved a research paper database extraction, and a literature review and extraction of the results.

The main design engineering skills involved in these projects include data set manipulation and scientific plotting, web-server and database configurations, and debugging tools. The results of the second project allowed to visualise the similarities between the systems, identifying similarity clusters and common features between them, first steps for the further research of Prof. Deterding.
