Crux Product Design

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, my main task was to see product testing through from end to end. This entailed creating testing protocols, conducting tests, summarising key insights on slides and presenting those to clients. In addition to this work, I participated in a risk assessment of a current product which informed design changes that will be implemented into a next generation that will be widely available soon. The work I did contributed in client discussions on how to progress.

For testing tasks, my mechanical design and CAD skills were essential as I was creating custom testing fixtures from scratch that had to constrain the specimens in specific ways. To summarise and present the results, my Python and graphic design skills were useful. For my risk assessment project, my Design for Manufacture and Assembly and Sustainable Design Engineering skills helped inform many of my decisions on what could be improved.

The most impactful outcome of my work was informing what medical device concept to progress based on testing I had design and conducted in a large project. I presented this work to the client in person. This next-generation device could improve medicine delivery for patients which would vastly improve the efficacy of treatment.
