Amazon, founded in 1994, is a global e-commerce giant that has revolutionised online shopping and offers a wide array of products and services, including Amazon Prime, in the mission to be The Everything Store. In contrast, Grab, established in 2012 in Singapore, concentrates on ride-hailing, food delivery, and digital payments in Southeast Asia. Grab has expanded significantly as a super app, particularly through Grab Financial, offering financial services like digital wallets and insurance, becoming a vital part of Southeast Asia's tech ecosystem. Both companies leverage technology to provide convenience, with Amazon serving a global audience and Grab enhancing mobility and financial access in the Southeast Asian region.

Role and Contributions

During my project management internship at Amazon (London), I focused on cost accuracy review and budget approval for new EU fulfillment centers. This included tracking progress and creating standard template for handover documents, allowing the team to coordinate frictionlessly. As a part of internal process improvement, I implemented a ""Lessons Learned"" process to capture and resolve the on-going operational issues, taking into account the work nature of the teams and user experience. Moreover, an asset utilisation analyses that I conducted revealed potential cost savings of $507k.

As a Growth Strategy intern at Grab (Bangkok), I analysed a campaign to transition cash users to cashless. I crafted user journey funnels the consist of success metrics, using SQL and Excel, resulting in a final selected campaign that would save $100k monthly. This success led to standardisation of the funnels for facilitating future marketing efforts. I also examined user retention to assess the affordability of an insurance service and analysed its demand-boosting campaign, both yielding consistent results. I further deep dived into these analyses to support targeted campaign roll-outs, considering productivity in major service segments and various cities. Overall, this would expand the user base locally, enhance the experience on the platform, and allow Grab to reach higher revenue.
