My tasks covered two design phases in Apple: final product assembly and reliability test. In product assembly, my work includes dimension control, product fit checks, and design experiments. For each task, I did the data analysis and summary pages to inform teams about potential risks during production. For reliability tests, tests are run to simulate consumer daily routine. I did the failure analysis when functional issues popped out after these tests. I was responsible for each unit's status tracking during the test and finding out the root cause of the functional failure. After that, I proposed several design improvements to smooth user experiences. The results of these two design phases will be used as a strong support for next-generation product design. Design teams might also make some design improvements based on these analysis outputs. During the design experiments, my previous workshop experience enabled me to quickly respond to the prototype requirements, which largely increased the experiments' efficiency. During the reliability test, my center design skills enabled me to propose some test instructions based on the user’s daily routine. Some of my proposals are collected by the team and largely increase the reliability test feasibility and test margin for a certain issue.
