Atmo Technology is an environmental tech startup based in Bristol, who focus on monitoring metrics such as air quality, noise, and asset use on sites within industries such as rail, construction, and healthcare. During my time as a product developer, I worked on features for Atmo’s web-based data portal, AtmoCore, where clients can see their site data in real time. Alongside this, Atmo provides detailed analysis on this sensor data through data science reports, to provide actionable insights.

Role and Contributions

I worked in product development, and also produced graphics and marketing for Atmo.

As a product developer, my responsibilities involved designing and presenting the UI of new features my team and I were developing in AtmoCore to the rest of the company, before then implementing the front-end code for these features in Vue.js, a javascript framework. Whilst creating features for AtmoCore, I applied my experience making web-apps in javascript, as well as my skills in human centered UX/UI. Several features I built with my team helped Atmo secure a long-term contract with a large client.

Within the graphic design and marketing aspect of my role, my responsibilities included creating client-facing marketing materials. I applied my strong sense of branding and ability to keep to a consistent design language to create impactful marketing materials. Working on projects such as a website redesign and the company brochure, much of my work was used by our commercial team in client and investor meetings, and therefore had a direct impact on client acquisition.

Generally, our flexibility and resilience as design engineers helped me pick up new skills quickly, despite steep learning curves, and also helped me adapt to a varied role.
