Atmo technology is a Bristol based startup that uses IoT technology and data science to improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact for leading companies within the UK rail, transport, construction, healthcare and maritime sector.

Their digital twin software, AtmoCore, gives clients real time visualisations and KPIs from their data, helping them keep within legal limits for risks such as noise, particulate matter, or CO2, all while monitoring asset metrics such as utilisation, GPS location or fuel consumption.

Role and Contributions

As a product developer, my primary role was to create features within the AtmoCore product. This process started by designing any necessary user interface and user experience prototypes within Figma, and then presenting these in company wide design reviews. Following this, any necessary changes were made, and then I would work on the front and backend of the features code and cloud infrastructure, by myself or in collaboration with other members of the team depending on development timelines and feature scale.

Features that I contributed included:

-Secure sign-in enabling authentication both within AtmoCore and with embedded third party applications.

-Tools for embedding and managing business intelligence visualisations with the AtmoCore website.

-A process that takes sensor data and calculates custom KPI values for clients, displaying them in AtmoCore through interactive plots.

-The user registration process that onboards new users.

-Automated error logging that reports any bugs to the development team so that support tickets can be dealt with quickly and efficiently.

As well as contributing to the software development of the AtmoCore product, I was also responsible for a number of design focused tasks. These included:

-Redesigning the company website.

-Redesigning the company brochure.

-Creating slides and videos used to secure funding.
