I joined Alén’s Space Electronics team. Throughout my placement I got involved in many different projects and tasks. At the time of my arrival, the company was towards the end of developing a satellite mission, so my work mostly involved testing, experimenting and verifying. I provided a wide range of support in all domains reached by electronics, later on I specialised a bit and became a nexus between electronics and Systems/Thermal teams. I mostly worked on PCB desin, Thermal Experiments and the acceptance of flight models but I was also involved in the anomaly discovery/verification of destructively tested boards, development of tools in Javascript and DelphiScript or design of 3D printed fan mounts for PCBs.
My PCB experience:
Implemented new Submodules of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) boards, Designed InRush measuring board, applied modifications to existing designs, replaced obsolete components and added features to ease use of EGSEs
My Thermal Experience:
Designed experiments to characterise Thermal Interface Materials, processed/analysed and presented the data gathered. Was also involved testing thermal performance of RF boards and investigating possible solutions
My experience accepting FMs:
Was involved from start to finish in the acceptance, validation and troubleshooting of engineering and flight models of an RF board. Performed visual inspections, mechanical tests, electrical tests, RF tests outside and inside the clean room
