ABOVE is a scandinavian design agency specialising in business innovation, strategic concepting, digital experiences and product development with an emphasis on driving positive sustainable change. They work with large to small scale companies including world leading Swedish organisations such as IKEA, Electrolux, Ericsson. Most ABOVE clients are positioned within the sectors of digital services and consumer electronics. The company currently employs 90+ employees working full time and spread across two offices in Stockholm and Malmö.

Role and Contributions

My role as a Design Technologist was to support ongoing projects through designing product interactions and experiences.

I was assigned to three main projects:

1. AR device interaction:

I worked closely with Experience Designers and Visual Designers, creating interactive mock-ups and physical prototypes to experiment with and test different value propositions. We also developed MVPs to serve as proof of concepts for clients. The main tools I used are Figma, Protopie & Adobe After Effects for exploring UI/UX design and Arduino IDE for physical prototyping.

2. Business innovation workshops:

The goal of this project was to help a telecommunication company generate new business opportunities through organising a series of workshops. In addition to participating as a workshop facilitator, I contributed to the project by performing trend forecasting, identifying innovation areas and helping to frame new business opportunities.

3. UX/UI design for photobooth screen:

During this project, I made my biggest contribution as I took part in every aspect of the project, from defining a new brand identity and developing a corresponding UI/UX for the photobooth up to the final handover of the project to the development team.
